Diadem

The angels who glorified God at the birth of the Saviour sang with the knowledge that one day a far greater throng would join the everlasting song. Perhaps they did not yet understand the things that “angels desire to look into” (1 Peter 1:12) – the cross, a thorny crown, cruel crucifixion nails, and a stone that one of them would roll away to proclaim His resurrection and eternal life for all who would sing the song. Edward Perronet’s hymn captures the majesty of that eternal song. Christ’s redeemed ones, saved by grace, will “crown Him Lord of all.”
